Looking for a new challenge in the New Year?

Looking for a new challenge in the New Year?

Open House would like to invite you to a Study and Learning morning.

Saturday 17th January 2026
10-12 noon in the Village Hall Meeting Room

The morning will be run by Amanda Rosier (our magazine editor!). Amanda has worked in Education for the last 18 years, working with students from different courses, backgrounds and ages. Amanda returned to study herself at the age of 32 after a long career working with horses, applying to study her degree with the Open University. A number of years later she returned to study her Masters with the same organisation. Currently she works as a Study Skills tutor at the Royal Veterinary College, in Potters Bar, supporting students with techniques such as revision and assignment writing.

She is passionate about supporting others to start their study and learning—at any age!

If you have always fancied starting or returning to some sort of learning and study, this morning is designed for you. It will give you the opportunity to bring questions you might have about what courses are available and where you might go to get funding advice. It will also cover study tips and techniques as well managing your time around other commitments such as family and employment.

So for those who thought they had left school way behind them—how about coming along to this morning to talk through where you could go in 2026!

Numbers are limited for this event to allow for a Q&A style discussion. The event is free, but please book your place on the Open House website: Study Skills Seminar – Open House.

Church

St Dunstan's Church Hunsdon. There's been a church in the village since at least 1086 (when a priest is mentioned in the Domesday book) and the current church building has certainly seen some history, with its Tudor Royal neighbours. The current church family is seeking to Know Christ and Make Him Known and would love to welcome new brothers and sisters.
